Wanton Wednesday: Final Edition

Well, this is it. I said a lot last week, so there’s not much left to say except that I appreciate and value every single person who’s participated in Wanton Wednesday over the last two years. You are all beautiful, lovely people. Sexiness is not something with scientific parameters or dictated by fashion magazines and I think we’ve all proved that. I loved the community of people participating here and I love that this has spawned similar projects. I know that I, and you all, will have lovely, warm and accepting places to go from here.

I usually leave the list open only for 48 hours, but for this last one I’ll leave it up for a full week in case any stragglers want to say they participated in the last one, late or not. I’ll also list the weekly memes that I know of to give you something to do in place of WW – if I haven’t listed yours, please email me and let me know the name, link and basic info.

For anyone posting photos, I’m taking photo submissions all the time at e[lust]. For anyone who’s going to be (or is) running a photo-based weekly thing, I’d appreciate it if you would include a link to the e[lust] photo submission page, in case you have participants who don’t know about e[lust] and the exposure they can get (if they want it).

From the bottom of my heart…

Thank you for the support and participation these last 2 years

Wanton Wednesday: Almost The End

I know, it wasn’t all the long ago that Wanton Wednesday celebrated two milestones – 2 years and 100 editions. But as I noted last week, despite having pretty decent turn out most weeks I’ve been feeling that Wanton Wednesday has been eclipsed by newer projects or existing projects. Wanton Wednesday almost never has a theme and how can it, when it’s such a general meme to begin with? By wanting everyone to feel included and allowing people to do whatever they felt like that week, things ended up being scattered a bit too much I think.

Even though I’ve been too busy to participate personally for a lot of the last year, I’ve appreciated every person who has participated. I love the early players who weren’t afraid to step outside of the HNT juggernaut. And I love thinking that Wanton Wednesday might have perhaps made others feel that it was ok to not have one single place, to make their own and branch out. Sinful Sunday is a great place for all the photographers and exhibitionists to gather each week. Wank Wednesday seems to be unreliable, but there is a Flash Fiction Friday that is back from hiatus. I’ll see if I can gather up any other writing memes to send you all to. If you know of any, let me know!

So while a part of me just wanted to make this edition the last one, I didn’t think it would be fair to do so without warning. Therefore, next weeks edition (May 30th) will be the final edition. I’ll be leaving this subdomain up for as long as I have my blog; and hey it leaves the door open a crack for Wanton Wednesday returning someday. But for now, between e[lust], ToySwap Network, Sex Blogger Co-Op and my own blog I just don’t have the time to continue on with something that has such redundancies elsewhere. You’ll all find new weekly homes to visit, I’m sure!

Wanton Wednesday, May 16

Every now and then I toss around the idea of stopping Wanton Wednesday. My reasons in the past were personal and because I was just too busy. But my current reasons are mainly….redundancy. While I always intended Wanton Wednesday to be more inclusive and less restrictive, therefore making it more than just a photo meme, sometimes I wonder if that has harmed it. Perhaps the writers aren’t sure what to comment about on the photographers posts and vice versa? Not sure. But there is a lot of redundancy now; HNT is gone but a few put together “TNH” – it’s not as popular as Sinful Sunday though. There’s Wordless Wednesday, I think. There was Wank Wednesday, for the writers, but I hear that’s been a little dark lately. And the thing is…everybody else does it better than me. I don’t always have the time to visit everyone on the weeks I don’t play (which is more often than not) and I almost never have themes or prompts. If WW went away, there are plenty of other options for doing your thing. Perhaps it is best that there isn’t too much redundancy with these sorts of things….? I don’t have comments on anymore because of the link lists but if you have an opinion on this, feel free to hit me up on twitter (@dangerouslilly).

Speaking of the link lists….I’m using a plugin now instead of LinkyTools. We lose the “like” feature but the links are here on WW and not living at another site. It’s better for you, and more reliable.

Dear players…you may have noticed in recent weeks that when you comment on a WordPress.com blog, you are being asked to log in to WordPress or Gravatar before your comment can get published. If you’d rather not do this when commenting, use/create a secondary blog email address that is not registered with WP or Gravatar. This will bypass the forced login. Of course, this will mean then that the first time you comment on someone’s blog using the new email address your comment will be held for moderation. Blog owners, please be sure to check your held comments!

Wanton Wednesday: May 9th

New to Wanton Wednesday? Please see the rules for playing WW. Anything goes here, pretty much, so long as you’re a blogger and the content you are linking to is your own. I encourage you all to Tweet and/or post the WW weekly to get traffic from your readers out to the other participants.

Please remember to only submit a link that goes directly to your Wanton Wednesday post, not your homepage, and please *do not* submit shortened links (they will be removed).

e[lust] is accepting photo submissions for the May edition now, submissions have a chance at being feature in the sidebar on e[lust] for a month or headlining the edition that is republished on all participants sites! Take a look at the photo submissions page for an idea of what I’m looking for and then submit your favorite pic! NOTE: I’m still looking for a really awesome edition header photo for May, despite the fact that I prefer to have them picked out by now. I look for things that can translate well into B&W (it can be in color, I edit them), photos that are horizontal / landscape orientation, and photos that are artistic and sensual.

100 Wanton Wednesdays: May 1st

Special Edition!: We’ve been doing this Wanton dance for 100 rounds now. Since I like milestones, this is a special edition too. I even got all dressed up! I hope that all our regulars join in the party this week.

Wanton Wednesday: April 25

Special Editions!: Wanton Wednesday has officially been around for 2 full years! The 100th edition of Wanton Wednesday is 1 week from now (May 2nd) and I think we should do something a little special for it. What does “special” mean? Dress up, get fancy, bring out your favorite sparkly items, etc. It’s a party! Personally I’m wishing I had enough loose, sparkly crystal gemstones that I could arrange them in a big “1 0 0″ on myself, but alas I’ll have to go for something a bit more subdued.

Wanton Wednesday: April 18: Anniversary Edition!

Special Editions!: Wanton Wednesday has officially been around for 2 full years! Since I didn’t give you much notice on this (heck, I wasn’t paying attention personally!) I figured we’ll do something extra special for the 100th edition of it, which is 2 weeks from now (May 2nd). What does “special” mean? Dress up, get fancy, bring out your favorite sparkly items, etc. It’s a party!

2 years ago, our first players included Coy Pink, Aurore (blog is now closed sadly), Curvaceous Dee, piecesofjade, and Hubman played but I couldn’t find the link to his first WW post. While our ranks haven’t exploded into the realm of other weekly photo meme’s from the past, I still think we have a pretty good thing going. So I hope that all our old and new friends join in for these special editions!
